This past week I had the privilege of talking with my friend and mentor Linda Slavings of "Today's Training". It is because of this amazing woman and her partner in life and business Mr.Dan Slavings; that I have been able to do all the things I have done. She pushed me to learn more, do more and to step outside of my comfort zone. It is women like Linda who are all too often the ones working behind the scenes to improve the lives of those they support. Through education, promotion and encouragement she (and those like her) work with budding trainers and SMEs to help them become some of the best in the business.
I know there are many out there just starting out; struggling to make the connections, get clients and most importantly to make an impact. Allow me to give you the most valuable piece of advice in your career: "Find a mentor". I am certain yours is right around the corner. (We often look so hard for something that we miss what is right before us.) Find that person who encourages and inspires; who believes in you- even when you are not so sure; one who is honest in their critique of your work and shares their experience with you. A good mentor can mean the difference between success and constant struggle.
"Tell us about your mentor; share stories of encouragement and inspiration. "
